For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
SWERVEDRIVER Mezcal Head (Rare 1993 UK 10-track LP on Creation, the second studio album from the alternative rockers which spawned the singles For Seeking Heat, Last Train To Satansville & their biggest hit Duel, picture sleeve with inner containing quotations from the songs & credits. The sleeve has some spinewear and a little general storage wear, whilst the vinyl has just a few minor surface scuffs – an excellent copy CRELP143).
COCTEAU TWINS Heaven Or Las Vegas (1990 UK 10-track LP, the Cocteau’s most successful album & one of the classic British indie albums of the early nineties, complete with full colour illustrated inner, picture sleeve. The inner has two small side seam splits, otherwise the sleeve shows minimal wear and the vinyl remains near ‘as new’ with little sign of play CAD0012).
WONDERSTUFF Construction For The Modern Idiot (1993 UK Polydor 12-track vinyl LP, picture sleeve with picture/lyric inner. The sleeve has a very small split at the top edge but is otherwise excellent, the inner is showing a little edgewear too but again otherwise remains in excellent shape whilst the vinyl is still in barely played near as new condition now 26 years on).
