From Planet Rock.
Former Motörhead axeman Phil Campbell has unleashed his new single ‘Straight Up’ featuring vocals from Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford.
As the title suggests, ‘Straight Up’ is a no-nonsense rock anthem that also features Phil’s sons Tyla and Dane on bass and drums respectively.
Phil Campbell comments: “The Metal God Rob Halford has always been an artist I admire. His distinctive vocals and stage presence have rocked millions of fans all over the world, so I count myself blessed to have written a rockin’ song together with him!
‘Straight Up’ is the latest offshoot from Phil Campbell’s debut solo album ‘Old Lions Still Roar’, which is released today (Friday 25th October) and available to order right here.
The album also boasts the lead single ‘These Old Boots’ featuring Dee Snider, Mick Mars and Chris Fehn, plus the Planet Rock A-listed anthem ‘Swing It’ featuring our very own Alice Cooper.
Other guest performers include Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Joe Satriani, Orange Goblin’s Ben Ward and Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane.
Campbell says of the record: “I’m really happy to release my first solo album, ‘Old Lions Still Roar’, worldwide. I’m also honoured to have mega talented guests and friends do their thing. Looking forward to everyone taking a listen!”
Along with long-serving drummer Mikkey Dee, Phil Campbell was added to Motörhead’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot on Sunday following uproar from Mikkey Dee from fans.
‘Classic’ Motörhead members Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, “Fast” Eddie Clarke, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor were originally all listed on Motörhead’s ballot, yet Campbell and Dee were missed out.
Phil released his critically acclaimed album ‘The Age of Absurdity’ with Phil Campbell & the Bastard Sons in early 2018 and they embark a fresh headline UK tour this autumn.
He says of the 10-date trek: “We are looking forward heading back out across the UK at the end of the year to play some new places and some of our regular favourites. We’ll be playing a mixture of songs off ‘The Age of Absurdity’, Motörhead classics and maybe even a song or 2 off my upcoming solo album.”
Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
