For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
THE ORB U.F. Orb (2018 UK 7-track White Label remastered double LP Test Pressing on 180 Gram Vinyl. Originally released in 1992. Pressed in small quantities purely to test the sonics, each disc has plain white labels with ‘Side A’ indicated on both, each in their own plain die-cut card sleeve with information sticker in the top right corner & remains in a new & unplayed condition).
LINDA MCCARTNEY Wide Prairie (Rare 1998 UK 16-track vinyl LP, gathering all of Linda’s material before her passing and produced by Paul McCartney, within a textured picture sleeve with illustrated inner and rare fold-out poster insert. The sleeve displays minimal wear and the inner has no splits of rips, the fold-out poster insert also remains ‘like new’, whilst the vinyl remains excellent with a few light surface scuffs and light signs of play only).
BADFINGER Magic Christian Music (1991 UK 16-track digitally remastered double vinyl LP manufactured in Germany, featuring music from the soundtrack to the brilliant psychedelic cult movie starring Peter Sellers & Ringo Starr. Originally releasedin 1970, this edition comes with a bonus 2-track vinyl 12″, including the previously unreleased Arthur and Storm In A Teacup. Pressed in limited quantities, this release is now hard to find as most were exported to USA. The glossy gatefold picture sleeve shows just a little light general wear, whilst the vinyl looks barely played SAPCOR12).
