As one of the icons and pioneers of the British Invasion and the mod movement of the mid-’60s, the Who were a dynamic and undeniably powerful sonic force. They based their rhythm on Townshend’s guitar, letting Moon and Entwistle improvise wildly over his foundation, while Daltrey belted out his vocals. This was the sound they thrived on in concert, but on record they were a different proposition.

THE WHO Dance Session (Super Rare 1966 Australian 4-track 7″ mono EP, released exclusively on Festival Records in Australia only. The label is black, white & blue & solid centre. The record features four classics from the My Generation album -The Kids Are Alright, It’s Not True, A Legal Matter & La-La-La Lies – & comes housed in a unique blue tinted picture sleeve with a fantastic in-action shot of the group from ’65. The cover is silk laminated with flipbacks & the design is surely the best sleeve artwork on 45 from down under for The Who of this period, & this is the first time we have being able to track one down. The cover is carefully graded VG+ with secure flipbacks, clean panels & tight laminate. There is a very faint & faded name annotation to a back corner & the artwork remains vivid & sharp. The only other minor blemishes are a small pinched crease mark to the spine & some very mild & natural foxing to the back panel barely noticeable. Both sides of the label have a small name annotation repeated three times, unobtrusive to the print & the vinyl is nice & clean with a deep sheen. The vinyl grades a strong VG+ revealing the lightest couple of paper hairline scuffs not affecting play – wonderful! We consider this to be a serious, bluechip Mod collectable that will hold its value for a lifetime DX-11,169).
THE WHO The Who Special (1981 US exclusive London Wavelength / BBC Rock Hour triple LP radio show, featuring great interviews and tracks from the band, plus a bonus disc with the commercials for use during the show. Issued in a custom stickered 12″ picture box, complete with full cue sheets).
THE WHO My Generation (1966 US second issue ‘rainbow’ label 12-track STEREO vinyl LP with ‘Mfr’d By Decca Records’ credit, pasted picture sleeve without the stereo arrow flash on the reverse, and with a company paper inner. The sleeve displays some minor wear mostly to the edges, whilst the vinyl remains in a really nice condition with just a couple of cosmetic light hairline marks which have no effect on play. Overall a really nice example of this classic album DL74664).
