For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
THE VERVE A Northern Soul (1995 UK limited edition 12-track double vinyl LP – the studio album from the UK indie legends, featuring the singles This Is Music, On Your Own and History; issued in a metallic silver picture sleeve with pictureinners. The sleeve has just some scratching to the metallic print with no splits or tears and the vinyl has the odd light scuff with little sign of play – a great copy of a great album HUTLP27).
NIRVANA Unplugged In New York (1994 German-pressed limited edition 14-track LP pressed on White Vinyl, featuring songs performed for MTV’s Unplugged, including Come As You Are, All Apologies, Pennyroyal Tea, About A Girl and The Man WhoSold The World, within a hype stickered picture sleeve & printed inner. The sleeve has just a small corner of discolouration with a little paper wear to the corner of the inner and the vinyl looks barely played GEF24727).
PINK FLOYD The Division Bell (Rare Autographed 1994 UK 11-track LP pressed on high quality vinyl, complete with illustrated lyric inner & glossy gatefold picture sleeve. The sleeve displays just a little light general wear, whilst the the vinyl has very little sign of play. This example has been boldly signed on the front by bass player Guy Pratt in a black marker pen. A nice example of this limited pressing which is now extremely hard to secure EMD1055).
