The 85th Anniversary Tour takes in Edinburgh, Newcastle, York, Guilford, Nottingham, London, Buxton, Bexhil, Cheltenham, Poole, St Albans, Cambridge, Manchester, Birmingham and Southend in the run-up to Mayall’s 86th birthday on 29th November.

Support at all dates will come from fast-rising blues virtuoso Connor Selby. Tickets go on sale from Planet Rock Ticketsat 9am on Friday 24th May.

Featuring collaborations with artists including Joe Bonamassa, Rush’s Alex Lifeson, Todd Rundgren and Steven Van Zandt, John Mayall’s latest studio album ‘Nobody Told Me’ was released in February.

Speaking at Planet Rockstock last December, Walter Trout heaped praise on his former John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers band mate.

“To this day I am star struck by John Mayall,” Walter told Paul Anthony. “He’s like a father to me, I played with him for five years, I toured the world with him, I made three albums with him, he’s appeared on four of my albums. I’m still in awe of the guy, of his accomplishments, his genius; he’s a musical genius and he’s I think underappreciated.

“If anybody should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame it’s him. Look who he started off – people always go Mick Taylor, Peter Green, Eric Clapton. (There’s) other guys they’re not even aware of, Simon Kirke and Andy Fraser from Free started with John Mayall.

“There’s just this amazing list of people that he has nurtured and taught and, y’know, I would say I’ve been at this for 50 years and the most fun I ever had at it was playing in his band.”

JOHN MAYALL & THE BLUESBREAKERS John Mayall Plays John Mayall - Recorded Live At Klooks Kleek (1967 UK first press 12-track deep groove mono LP on the unboxed Decca label, recorded live in Hampstead, London on December 7 1964, front laminatedpicture sleeve with album notes from Alexis Korner. The cover [VG] has some minor ring wear with a degree of light smokiness to the back panel as evidence of having lived the sixties [reissue this ain't!], with all print legible & just a couple of small asterisks by the tracklist. The surface of the vinyl is Excellent & we have professionally cleaned both sides for great sound. There is a fair amount of spindle marks by the centre hole to show repeat play & the odd paper hairline scuff but very little lessening in sound quality. A Very Good example LK4680)

JOHN MAYALL With ERIC CLAPTON Blues Breakers (1966 UK first issue 12-track mono vinyl LP on the deep groove red unboxed Decca label with bracketed upside down matrices above the catalogue number on the labels & 1966 at the bottom, front laminated 'Beano' sleeve without the mono / stereo die-cut indicator on the back. The sleeve on this copy is graded VG with a handwritten '2' to the unlaminated reverse and general wear/discolouration, mainly to the edges, whilst the vinyl is gradedVG as there is some visible spindlewear and some scuffs and faint hairlines. By no means mint, this is a respectable copy of the classic, thanks to the quality of sixties vinyl, the condition is purely a cosmetic issue. Recommended! LK4804)
