From Planet Rock.
Primed for an extremely busy 2019, Status Quo’s Francis Rossi has announced details of a new studio album, an autobiography and an extensive spoken word tour.
Entitled ‘We Talk Too Much’, Francis Rossi’s new album is a collaboration with vocalist Hannah Rickard and is released under the Rossi / Rickard banner on Friday 15th March 2019 via earMUSIC / Edel.
The pair have previously worked together on the ‘Aquostic’ projects, and musically the album features a collection of Country-flavoured duets.
Described as a ‘labour of love’, the album boasts writing credits for Rossi and Rickard as well as Quo stalwart Bob Young.
Just one day before ‘We Talk Too Much’ lands, Rossi will release his new autobiography ‘I Talk Too Much’ via Little, Brown on Thursday 14th March.
Written in conjunction with award-winning writer and broadcaster Mick Wall, the book is billed as an ‘explosive memoir’ in which ‘the famously indiscreet Rossi reveals the true-life stories behind his unbelievable career.’
The blurb promoting the auobiography reads: ‘Painfully honest at times, the book covers the glory years, the dark days, the ups and downs of his relationship with the late Rick Parfitt and the real stories behind the creation of some of the greatest rock music of all time.’
Rossi previously released a collaborative Status Quo autobiography with the late-great Rick Parfitt in 2005 entitled XS All Areas. Again it featured input from Mick Wall.
Completing today’s triple whammy of Francis Rossi announcements, the rocker will embark on a 36-date spoken word I Talk Too Much theatre tour throughout the spring.
Opening on Wednesday 20th March in Whitley Bay and wrapping up in King’s Lynn exactly two months later, the intimate evenings will see Rossi share candid stories from throughout his career.
He comments: “This show is something new for me. It will be live and unscripted, so god knows what could happen! One thing’s for sure though, it’ll be a white-knuckle ride for me, but fans will get a real unvarnished insight into what’s happened over the years.
“I’ll be taking a guitar along to demonstrate how some of those Quo classics came into being, and hopefully we’ll take a few questions from the audience too. It’s been quite a journey, there’s a lot to share.”
