For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals
Primal Scream – Screamadelica: Original 1991 UK Creation label 11-track double vinyl LP, a massive release at the time by Andrew Weatherall and the Primals, effortlessly uniting indie and dance under one roof for the second summer of love. Housed in a gatefold picture sleeve which shows some minor wear, the vinyl appears in Excellent condition with minimal evidence of play!
Madonna – Something To Remember: 1995 UK 14-track compilation LP manufactured in Germany for the UK market, great picture sleeve. The sleeve displays only light signs of wear & age without any rips or splits, whilst the vinyl has only a few light cosmetic surface marks and looks to have been played only a couple of times. A really nice copy of this hard to find 90s pressing.
Pulp – Separations: Rare original 1992 UK Fire Records 9-track vinyl LP, the groups third album recorded in 1989, released in France in 1991, including the classic My Legendary Girlfriend, glossy picture sleeve. The sleeve displays minimal wear and the vinyl looks barely played
