You only have to look at the history of metal to realise how vast and extensive the genre is. It has spawned numerous subgenres, that have, in turn, given way to their own new and inventive genres, and so on. Realistically, who ever thought we would be living in a world where atmospheric post-black metal would be a thing…
Below are a few of our latest arrivals from the metal world, and you can find more at eil.com.
Morbid Angel – Altars Of Madness: Rare 1989 UK 9-track vinyl LP, the classic debut album from the Tampa Bay death metal legends, an undisputed cornerstone of the genre, the top of many a metal fan’s all time lists, complete with lyric printed card inner. The glossy sleeve featuring the unforgettable Dan Seagrave ‘captured souls’ artwork is showing only minor shelfwear with a mild light patch area to the right corner where a sticker used to be and a few light spots of edge/spinewear, other than that it remains Excellent. As for the disc itself, despite a few visible surface scuffs the vinyl revealed no issues on playback also remaining in EX condition, sounding suitably ferocious as this pivotal album should – so good they should make it compulsory in schools, recommended.
Obituary – Slowly We Rot: 1989 Dutch 12-track LP, the debut album by the American death metal classics, the pioneers of doing it ‘slow’ & the only one to feature bassist Daniel Tucker. The glossy picture sleeve shows only faint ringwear if closely inspected and the odd edge crease. The vinyl remains in superb shape showing very little indication of play – a great copy of this highly influential and important Floridian Death Metal debut!
Cannibal Corpse – Bloodthirst: 1999 German 11-track LP, the seventh album from the US Death Metal pioneers, picture sleeve with illustrated lyric / credit insert. The sleeve has only minor wear and the vinyl remains excellent with little indication of much play
