Ain’t nothing but a jazz thing here at eil.com this week with a vast array of top jazz rare vinyl and CDs coming through the doors, here’s a few to whet your jazz whistle, see them all in our Jazz collectors store.
Norma Winstone – Edge Of Time: Very rare British Jazz 1972 UK 7-track debut solo LP on Argo. Norma was a master of wordless vocal improvisation, and by exploring new forms of phrasing and breath control she could solo with the best of them. Alsoincludes standout performances by Kenny Wheeler, Paul Rutherford, Art Themen, Chris Pyne, Chris Laurence and John Taylor, matt picture sleeve. The sleeve shows only very light corner creasing and has the vintage pricer sticker in the corner leaving it Excellent. The vinyl shows just a few points of Axial wear, with little other sign of play and lovely clean labels leaving it also Excellent. A beauty!
John Coltrane – A Love Supreme: Archive quality 1965 UK HMV label 4-track STEREO vinyl LP, featuring Jimmy Garrison on bass, McCoy Tyner on piano and drummer Elvin Jones, Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. front laminated flipback picture sleeve with company catalogue inner. Both the sleeve & vinyl are stunning Near Mint. Quite simply no jazz collection [or music collection in general for that matter] should be without it!
Graham Collier – Down Another Road: 1969 UK 6-track stereo LP, a cult British jazz album that is only now starting to receive the accolade it deserves, containing carefully arranged & beautifully constructed compositions with a consistently high performance level. The picture sleeve is fully laminated with album notes penned by Collier himself. This is a lovely condition example with sharp, clean panels. The sleeve is Excellent with merely the lightest chip in the laminateto a corner & very minor ring wear. The vinyl is near ‘as new’
