From NME:
Matt Bellamy has teased a new Muse song called ‘The Dark Side’ by sharing a video of him playing its guitar solo on Instagram. The band are currently working on new music, with a new album due out in November, according to drummer Dom Howard.
In the new video, Bellamy can be seen starting the recording and then performing the song’s solo on a black guitar. He captioned the post: “The Dark Side guitar solo. Make your own accompaniment! #musethedarkside #guitarsolo #inthegarage”.
“Thinking this could be Zeppelin-esque,” commented one fan. Another added: “Such a cool sound, I’m sure the song will be FREAKING GREAT.” No release date for the track has been confirmed at present.
Muse first mentioned ‘The Dark Side’ in an interview on LA radio station KROQ in February. While discussing recent single ‘Thought Contagion’, Bellamy said: “There is actually a track on the album called ‘The Dark Side’, which is one of our favourite tracks. We’re just working on that at the moment.”
The song’s title was also teased on the license plate of a car in the video for latest track ‘Something Human’, which came out in July.
In another interview with KROQ around that song’s release, Bellamy confirmed the band’s next record was almost complete. “We’re finishing it right now,” he said. “We’ve got 11 tracks in the bag. Then we’ll do seven or eight tracks which will be acoustic or alternative versions of the songs. The album’s got a lot of harder rock on it as well.”
