For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
Cypress Hill – Black Sunday: Rare 1993 Dutch manufactured 14-track double vinyl LP, the uncensored version of the classic second album including Insane In The Brain and I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That; printed inners with a glossy gatefold picture sleeve. The sleeve displays some wear mostly to the edges with the start of a split at the top, whilst the vinyl remains excellent with only light signs of play.
Sonic Youth – Dirty: Classic 1992 UK/German-pressed 16-track double vinyl LP, produced by the legendary Butch Vig, featuring the singles 100% and the amazing Sugar Kane, glossy picture sleeve with illustrated inners. The sleeve shows only lightsigns of its age & the vinyl has just the odd light scuff/hairline visible. Essential Sonic Youth.
Neil Young – Harvest Moon: 1992 German 10-track LP, the twentieth studio album by Canadian musician featuring Such A Woman arranged by Jack Nitzsche, glossy picture sleeve complete with original illustrated lyric inner. The sleeve & vinyl are Near Mint. Very nice.
