Ain’t nothing but a jazz thing here at eil.com this week with a vast array of top jazz rare vinyl and CDs coming through the doors, here’s a few to whet your jazz whistle, see them all in our Jazz collectors store.
Accolade – Accolade: Rare 1970 UK first issue 9-track Columbia one box label LP with -1 matrices, front laminated flipback picture sleeve with advertising inner. The sleeve is strictly graded VG/VG+, there is a small spot of paper loss on the front at the bottom, otherwise only has minor wear with the back showing very little signs of age and intact flipbacks. The labels both have only a a few light spindle marks whilst the vinyl remains very clean with only a few light surface marks and is otherwise excellent. A nice copy and only the second we have seen
Charlie Parker – Charlie Parker Big Band: Very rare 1954 US 10-track LP on a deep groove black Clef ‘Trumpeter’ label, pasted picture sleeve with sleeve notes by Norman Granz & tape reinforced bottom seam. As can be expected after over sixty years, the sleeve does show a degree of shelfwear, with a split to the top seam and edge scuffing but far less than you would expect. The vinyl too shows several scuffs and surface hairlines but none deep enough to affect play and it plays through without fault although a degree of background noise should be expected. An acceptable, if not mint, copy of this very rare album at an advantageous price.
Blossom Dearie – Blossom Time At Ronnie Scott’s: 1966 UK 10-track mono live LP, recorded with Jeff Clyne on bass and Johnny Butts drums, front laminated pasted picture sleeve. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear & the vinyl remains near ‘as new’ with few signs of play.
