You only have to look at the history of metal to realise how vast and extensive the genre is. It has spawned numerous subgenres, that have, in turn, given way to their own new and inventive genres, and so on. Realistically, who ever thought we would be living in a world where atmospheric post-black metal would be a thing….
One mainstay, however is thrash. It’s been around the since the ‘80s, and continues to grow with bands such as Municipal Waste, Power Trip, Iron Reagan, Insanity Alert and more carry the torch in the new era. The good thing about thrash is that it has rubbed shoulders with death metal plenty of times, meaning they aren’t strange bedfellows, and even the biggest bands such as Death and Incantation have borrowed from thrash throughout their careers.
While we don’t see that much thrash or death metal here, it’s always but of an event. We currently have some great titles in stock from Pestilence, Nocturnus, Bolt Thrower, Nuclear Assault, and more. Check out some of the highlights below, and search for more metal titles on our site.
Bolt Thrower – War Master: Rare 1991 UK 9-track vinyl LP, an Earache classic for the well seasoned Thrash fan, complete with the eight-page heavily illustrated lyric booklet and record company Catalogue booklet and glossy gatefold picture sleeve. The sleeve has a vintage price sticker on the front and displays minimal wear, whilst the vinyl shows little signs of play. An outstanding example of this hard to find 90s vinyl pressing.
Nocturnus – The Key: 1990 UK 9-track LP on regular Black Vinyl, the insane debut by the Florida pioneers of ultra fast Sci-Fi Progressive Death Metal. The Key was a concept album following the story of a Cyborg going back in time to the year 0 B.C., leading to the destruction of Christianity [highlighted by the controversial ‘Destroying The Manger’!] & the creation of a modern empire. Includes upfront Keyboards in the mix, which was unheard of in Death Metal at the time. The picture sleeve, complete with the illustrated lyric insert, grades Excellent, with a little scuffing around the edges & the vinyl is Excellent with very few signs of play. Recommended.
Pestilence – Spheres: 1993 Dutch original 11-track LP on Roadrunner, one of the ultimate Death Metal mutations on record, with Jazz & Progressive influences (& rubbing shoulders with Cynic & Death on tour) thrown so far into the mix, with unexpected meters, extended range bass & weird synth guitars(!), the band had to call it a day after the album’s release to return slowly back to earth, before reforming in 2009. The picture sleeve is Excellent with minimal signs of wear, complete with the illustrated lyric inner. The vinyl is Excellent with barely a hint of play. Recommended for the head-strong!
Nuclear Assault – Game Over: 1986 UK 12-track LP, the debut album featuring Dan Lilker & John Connelly, both ex-Anthrax band members, glossy picture sleeve with flipback lyric inner. The sleeve has a vintage price sticker on the front & displays only minimal signs of wear, whilst the vinyl shows little evidence of play. A really nice example of the brilliant & astonishingly fast metal album!
