Ain’t nothing but a jazz thing here at eil.com this week with a vast array of top jazz rare vinyl and CDs coming through the doors, here’s a few to whet your jazz whistle, see them all in our Jazz collectors store.
Modern Jazz Quartet – Under The Jasmin Tree: Rare original early 1970s Australian edition of the 1968 Apple label 4-track STEREO vinyl LP, issued exclusively down under by the World Record Club and housed in a unique front laminated picture sleeve with an olive green tinted image of the Quartet looking very cool indeed. The sleeve shows only the very faintest signs of wear and the vinyl looks barely played, retaining a wonderful shine over 35 years on – a real beauty!
Ibis – Ibis: Mega Rare 1974 Swedish-only 9-track LP by the Progressive Jazz-Rock outfit, not to be confused with the Italian group of the same name, housed in a unique silk laminated picture sleeve with catalogue inner depicting other sought after Grammofonverket rarities [like Sabu Martinez’s ‘Afro Temple’ & Pop Workshop]. The cover appears Excellent with just a few tiny hairline splits in the paper top & bottom & the vinyl is as close to Near Mint as you will find for this title. Recommended.
Jackie Mclean – Tippin’ The Scales: Rare & deleted limited edition 1979 Japanese-only 6-track stereo LP, manufactured exclusively by King Records in the ‘World First Appearance’ series. Contains a previously unreleased session recorded with Sonny Clark, Butch Warren and Art Taylor in 1962. Comes in a pasted picture sleeve with Japanese insert and ‘Blue Note’ logo obi-strip. This copy is in immaculate condition.
