Arguably one of the most prolific artists of all time, Neil Young is now gearing up to release a ‘lost’ acoustic album on August 4th, Hitchhiker. Recorded in 1976 during a single session in Malibu, CA, the album includes ten tracks of Young at his most raw and stripped back. While all but two of the tracks, Hawaii, and Give Me Strength, have appeared in various incarnations across Young’s illustrious back catalogue, this session has been left in his vaults for over 40 years.
To celebrate the release of Hitchhiker, here are just a few of the excellent rarities we have in stock from the Godfather of Grunge.
Chrome Dreams II – Test Pressing
10-track double LP white label test pressing for the 2008 sequel to the 1977 classic, Chrome Dreams. Never released to the public and used for evaluation, it has remains in near ‘as new’ condition, and once we gone we will likely never see it again.
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere – Japanese Issue
Second Japanese issue of Neil Young’s 1969 album with Crazy Horse, straight from Japan in excellent condition and rarely seen on our shores. It includes the beloved tracks Cinnamon Girl and Down By The River, and the beautiful closing opus, Cowgirl In the Sand.
On The Beach – Original UK Pressing
Depending on who you ask, On The Beach is one of Neil Youngs finest pieces of work. Released in 1974, this copy remains in excellent condition, and the pressing quality of this original release is exceptional. It is the perfect way to enjoy the cynicism of Walk On, the classic twang of Revolution Blues, and the defiant protest song, Vampire Blues.
This is just a taste of some of the excellent Neil Young rarities we have in stock, with more test pressings, vinyl, posters, and awards available in our collectors store now.
