The trance legend passed away from an unreported illness.
Robert Miles, the Swiss-born trance producer behind the 1995 smash hit ‘Children’, has died aged 47. According to DJ Mag Italia, Miles passed away from an unreported illness.
Miles, real name Robert Concina, was born in 1969 in the Swiss town of Fleurier, but his family relocated to Italy when he was young.
Concina released one of the biggest dancefloor fillers of the ‘90s, ‘Children’. The dream trance megahit went to number one in more than 12 countries and earned Concina a Brit award in 1997.
Following a string of other club-orientated tracks, Concina moved onto making experimental music, eventually setting up Balearic radio station Open Lab.
Longtime friend and former DBX label boss Joe T Vannelli, who released Miles’ Soundtracks EP featuring ‘Children’, wrote: “The tragic news of the death of a very talented artist of our time, makes me incredulous and upset. I will miss the fights, brawls, criticism, judgements but especially your talent in finding sounds and melodies unparalleled.”
Pete Tong, Darude and Armin van Buuren have paid tribute.
