… perform ‘All You Need Is Love’ to over 400 million people….
We no longer bat an eyelid if a programme broadcasts live simultaneously across the world but in 1967 such a thing was only the preserve of American presidential elections and state funerals (not much else!), so when the Beatles were asked to write a song for the planned live global TV link-up entitled ‘Our World’ they rose to the occasion offering a brand new zeitgeist surfing song (just weeks after the release of Sgt. Pepper) in the shape of ‘All You Need Is Love’ – it was a star-studded occasion that saw the Beatles perform with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Graham Nash and Keith Moon amongst others……
