Hot footing it through the doors at eil towers just recently are two very collectable Beatles LPs (Yellow Submarine and Abbey Road) on sale for £6,500 and £5,000 respectively, ouch! Now, whilst most people are aware that certain Beatles records can fetch eye-watering sums, what makes these two so damn special?

Both copies are ‘factory custom pressings’, three words guaranteed to get the seasoned record collector just a little bit spiffy. Stories, myths, legends abound in record collecting circles of how these colourful pressings come into being. Whilst some are most likely to be the product ‘after-hours’ creations by the pressing plant night shift – (it must be boring watching a ton of black wax all night and a bit of colour would liven things up!) – there is always the possibility of genuine ‘mistakes’ or mispressings, sometimes created when a designated coloured vinyl run finishes but the vinyl mix gets carried on to the start of the next run for an entirely different album. Invariably these ‘mistakes’ are destroyed as part of the quality control process but sometimes the odd copy will find its way to the market, either deliberately or inadvertently!

In the case of the two Beatles LPs we are offering for sale (***be warned there’s a nerdy bit coming up***) – whilst they feature the same barcoded gatefold picture sleeve, finished labels & correct machine stamped matrix numbers of ‘5214811 A-1-1-2’ & ‘5214811 B-1-1-1’ which can be found on the 1999 reissues that these records were a part of, crucially they are pressed on RED VINYL, never released commercially and believed to be one of only 3 copies (yes 3 copies!) ever pressed in this non-standard colour – WOW! Factor in the provenance of these records, they were obtained from the personal archive of a retired senior engineer with more than 25 years of service at the world famous EMI manufacturing plants in Blyth Road and Uxbridge Road, Middlesex – WOW Again! Now for the triple whammy, these records have remained in his possession since their creation and are now being offered for sale for the very first time. The records remain unplayed & are near ‘as new’……..needless to say not only are these two very, very rare examples of Beatles vinyl, but with the way vinyl is going (especially anything Beatle related), they offer an incredible opportunity for investment……full sales info for this item can be found here

From the personal archive of a retired senior engineer with more than 25 years of service at the world famous EMI manufacturing plants in Blyth Road and Uxbridge Road, Middlesex. This copy has remained in his possession since its creation and is now being offered for sale for the very first time, complete with the barcoded glossy picture sleeve.
