Kurt Cobain’s version of the Beatles track And I Love Her is to be released on seven-inch vinyl. The cover, which was first aired during Brett Morgen’s documentary Montage of Heck, will be backed by the rare Cobain song Sappy. Morgen confirmed the news after a pre-order link was posted on the Vinyl Collector forum.

The Nirvana frontman’s take on And I Love Her was one of several previously unheard tracks on Montage of Heck. It is a surprise find, as Cobain was not known for his love of the song’s author, Paul McCartney. Back in 1989, he was quoted as saying: “I love the Beatles, but I hate Paul McCartney.”

“Nobody in Kurt’s life — not his management, wife, bandmates — had ever heard his Beatles thing,” Morgen told Rolling Stone. “I found it on a random tape. It’s a Paul song. How’s that for shattering the myth?”

There is still no official track list for the Montage of Heck soundtrack, although Morgen has promised that it will include a “mindblowing” previously unheard 12-minute acoustic track. The soundtrack is due for release in November.
