Pink Floyd man samples French Railways jingle, announces September LP
DAVID GILMOUR PREVIEWED his new solo album on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio on July 17. The track, Rattle That Lock, begins with the four notes that precede announcements at French SNCF railway stations – grounds for instant strike action, surely, by the sensitive employees on the chemins de fer.
A nine-track album of the same name is to be released on September 18, 2015. Rattle That Lock is David Gilmour’s fourth solo album and follows his 2006 Number 1 On An Island. The album is co-produced by Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera with lyrics by Gilmour’s missus and writing partner, Polly Samson. Rattle That Lock’s cover art has been directed by Dave Stansbie from The Creative Corporation under the creative tutelage of Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis.
