This week’s choice from our resident vinyl guru ‘Mr A’ is this super rare, Turkish Jazz fusion LP by the Arman Ratip Trio….for full details on the website click here
Rare 1970 UK 6-track vinyl LP.
Don’t be fooled by the rather unassuming look of the man staring back at you on the LP sleeve, this is definitely NOT a ‘Hammond Organ At The Blackpool Tower’ type affair, in fact it’s a stunning slice of percussion heavy jazz fusion that merges elements of Turkish classical with Western modernist jazz to winning effect. Released as part of the hugely collectable Lansdowne Jazz series (other luminaries in the series include Joe Harriott and Stan Tracey – fine company indeed!), this, like their previous release ‘The Spy From Istanbul’, has become one of the harder releases to find in the series….until now!
Further information for the Arman Ratip Trio out there on the great world-wide-interweb is sketchy to say the least, however, a quick spin on the office turntable quickly had us all tapping our feet…….in 7/4 time mind…..
