HENRY COW Concerts (Rare 1976 UK 20″ by 27″ poster for the band’s gig at Folkestone Town Hall on 21st August that year, supported by Night Flight & The Dharma Dance Band. The poster depicts the then current ‘Concerts’ LP artwork, with a smallblank square into which would be written [or in this case, stuck] details of the gig. There are light poster putty stains in the corners where this was once displayed on something or other, but it is free from pinholes or writing. There is a little stressing to the edges and several less than significant small creases but far fewer than you would expect from a poster ‘liberated’ at a gig way back when & stored mostly rolled ever since. A curious bonus with this is that there is a piece of notepaper affixed by poster putty to the poster, with the autographs of Art Grant & Steve Broughton. The careful collating & storage of these two items together leads us to surmise that they were obtained at the same time. This is not beyond the bounds of possibility as both Steve Broughton & members of Henry Cow performed together during the recording of the live versions of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells & Art Grant was the Edgar Broughton Band’s bass player, so it would be easy to see the two of them attending a Henry Cow gig. Once framed, this would be a very effective display. Should you wish to do so, the notepaper can be easily detached from the poster itself, or you could keep them together as a snapshot of that day in time, just as the original owner has done for over thirty five years).
