Conceived as a fully orchestrated narrative, The Moth is one of Townsend's most ambitious projects: an orchestral, choral and theatrical work developed over more than a decade. Created in collaboration with the North Netherlands Orchestra and Choir, the album brings together a large international cast of musicians and contributors, including long-timecollaborators Darby Todd, Mike Keneally and James Leach, with guest appearances from Steve Vai, Anneke Van Giersbergen and Lynn Wu of Ou. Written from the ground up as an orchestrated piece, with assistance from Joseph Stevenson, The Moth explores transformation, self-acceptance and surrender through a carefully scored 24-track work spread across four sides of vinyl.
