Harking back to the year we started doing this ‘collectable’ thing (30 years ago this year!) we have a couple of interesting original studio acetates landing on our desk from Frankie Goes To Hollywood:-
Rage Hard – Very rare 1986 UK double-sided 12″ metal based high-grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate for the single release, with Town House studio labels annotated in blue pen with the artist, track & side details. The A-side has a twelve minute running time & is backed with a cover of David Bowie’s Suffragette City & (Don’t Lose What’s Left) Of Your Little Mind under the working title ‘A Coffee, A Burger’, housed in a plain white reference sleeve annotated with the proposed ’26/7/86′ release date. The acetate’s surface remains in stunning condition with few signs of play…
Welcome To The Pleasuredome – Very rare 1985 UK single-sided 7″ metalbased high-grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate for the single release, with Town House studio labels annotated in
blue pen with the artist, title& proposed ‘4-3-85’ release date. Pressed in extremely small numbers for sonic review,
very few of these ever escape the studio, never intended for general public consumption in this form. The acetate’s surface
remains in superb condition with few signs of play
And from a bit later… Welcome To The Pleasuredome – Very rare 1993 UK double-sided 12″ metal based high-grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate for sides C & D of the promotional-only double 12″ set, featuring Elevatorman’s 6:00 Non-Stop TopFloor Club Mix & the 6:00 Deep Down Bass-Ment Dub.
