For anyone who collects vinyl, we know that some of the most highly wanted pressings tend to be those classed as Audiophile.
Those with the best hi-fi equipment will always want the best quality sounding pressing available, be that high quality 180 gram or heavier vinyl, CD’s, Super Audio CD’s, SHM-CD’s, DVD-Audio Discs and more, from companies like DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Nautilus, Nexus, Simply Vinyl or Nimbus.
AUDIOPHILE VINYL
‘True Fidelity’ vinyl is perhaps the ultimate format for the audiophile. Issues are taken from original master tapes for pure ‘as intended sound’, and production techniques such as half-speed mastering, quadraphonic sound and special formulated virgin vinyl are common in most audiophile releases.
There are many labels who issue audiophile recordings, but only a few specialize in it. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) have a variety of series including ‘Original Master Recordings’
[OMR] and ‘Ultra High-Quality Recordings’ [UHQR]. Other important audiophile labels include Nautilus, Direct-Disk Labs, Sheffield Lab and Wilson Audio.
AUDIOPHILE COMPACT DISCS
With the development of the compact disc so typically came the development of its audiophile counterpart. Again, there are specialist labels, there are varying techniques (gold discs, layered discs, high-density discs) and there are varying opinions on the listening pleasure! But we’re here to bring all those quandaries together.

Housed inside a numbered deluxe triple gatefold picture sleeve, with 4-page booklet inside & gold hype sticker. Recommended).
ZZ TOP Cinco: The First Five LPs (2017 UK/EU limited edition FIVE LP box set comprising the five studio albums originally released between 1971 and 1976 pressed on audiophile quality 180 gram vinyl – ZZ Top’s First Album, Rio Grande Mud, Tres Hombres, Fandango! and Tejas. Each in their own picture sleeve replicating the original releaase, all housed in a 12″ x 12″ slipcase picture box. The box displays some wear mostly to the edges, the sleeve have mininal wear and the vinyl remains in a ‘near as new’ condition).
KATE BUSH Hounds Of Love (2018 Remastered Edition UK/EU 12-track LP pressed on 180-gram black vinyl. Her 1985 masterpiece featuring the singles Running Up That Hill [A Deal With God], Cloudbusting, The Big Sky, and the classic title track. Picture sleeve with spot-varnished image, red hype sticker & factory sealed. Essential).
THE BANGLES Different Light (2022 UK/EU limited edition 12-track LP pressed on 180-gram Pink & Purple Marbled Vinyl, their excellent 1985 debut album featuring the classic Manic Monday composed by Prince, plus hit singles Walk Like An Egyptian, Walking Down Your Street, If She Knew What She Wants and Following. Picture sleeve with lyric insert and hype sticker. Recommended).
