What is an audiophile pressing?
Well, in a nutshell, it’s an audio format pressed to help enhance the sound quality, be that on vinyl or Compact Disc.
The idea being the heavier the vinyl pressing, the better. There have been pressings released from 120 up to 200 Gram in weight, usually the 200 Gram will play at 45rpm providing a better audio experience, instead of the standard 33 1/3rpm.
Compact Discs have various different formats, gold was used in the earlier pressing as it supposedly provided a better a clearer sound reproduction.
Mobile Fidelity are known for being one of the leaders in producing vinyl and CDs of an audiophile grade, with the original releases now highly collectable.
We now have Super Audio CDs, SHM-CD providing a high-fidelity-audio, Blu-Spec CDs using Blu-ray technology, along with DVD-Audio using DVD technology, both providing surround sound audio.

LOVE Forever Changes (2016 limited edition Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab 11-track double album 2-LP, mastered by Krieg Wunderlich, assisted by Rob LoVerde at MFSL on the Gain 2 Ultra Analog System, specially plated and pressed on 180-gram High-Definition Vinyl. Heavyweight gatefold picture sleeve with original album art, individually numbered in gold on the back and sealed inside its perforated loose bag. The ultimate analogue reference of this 1967 masterpiece, alternatively sad and beautiful, the album-opening and flamenco-inspired Alone Again Or establishes the mood for what follows. Recommended)
GEORGE HARRISON The Vinyl Collection (2017 UK limited edition remastered VINYL LP box set comprising all 12 of George’s original studio albums, plus his classic Live In Japan and 2 additional 12″ picture discs. The albums are pressed on 180gram Heavyweight Vinyl housed inside a deluxe two-piece rigid slip-case box with a lenticular image front cover. This incredible set remains appears unplayed; the case shows minimal shelfwear and all discs are still sealed, with the orange belly band still intact. . Out-of-print!).
