For anyone who collects vinyl, we know that some of the most highly wanted pressings tend to be those classed as Audiophile.
Those with the best hi-fi equipment will always want the best quality sounding pressing available, be that high quality 180 gram or heavier vinyl, CD’s, Super Audio CD’s, SHM-CD’s, DVD-Audio Discs and more, from companies like DCC, Mobile Fidelity, Nautilus, Nexus, Simply Vinyl or Nimbus.
AUDIOPHILE VINYL
‘True Fidelity’ vinyl is perhaps the ultimate format for the audiophile. Issues are taken from original master tapes for pure ‘as intended sound’, and production techniques such as half-speed mastering, quadraphonic sound and special formulated virgin vinyl are common in most audiophile releases.
There are many labels who issue audiophile recordings, but only a few specialize in it. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) have a variety of series including ‘Original Master Recordings’
[OMR] and ‘Ultra High-Quality Recordings’ [UHQR]. Other important audiophile labels include Nautilus, Direct-Disk Labs, Sheffield Lab and Wilson Audio.
AUDIOPHILE COMPACT DISCS
With the development of the compact disc so typically came the development of its audiophile counterpart. Again, there are specialist labels, there are varying techniques (gold discs, layered discs, high-density discs) and there are varying opinions on the listening pleasure! But we’re here to bring all those quandaries together.

The gatefold picture sleeve retains its opened hype-stickered shrinkwrap and comes with the printed inners while the two discs remains in barely played condition KSCOPE955).
PETER PAUL & MARY Peter, Paul & Mary (Limited Edition 2014 US Audio Fidelity 12-track audiophile 24 Karat Gold Hybrid SA-CD [Super Audio CD – playable only on SACD players] mastered by Steve Hoffman, the 1962 double platinum & Grammy Award winning debut album. Comes housed in an album jewel case with picture sleeve booklet & die-cut card picture slipcase with individual number sticker in gold on the back. Near ‘as new’ AFZ161).
U2 3-D Dance Mixes (2018 UK 3-track remastered 12″ single pressed on 180 Gram Heavyweight Vinyl, featuring When Love Comes To Town (Live From The Kingdom Mix) with B.B. King, God Part II (The Hard Metal Dance Club Mix) and Desire (Hollywood Remix), housed in a gatefold picture sleeve with with two black & white 12″ sqaure photographs and folded poster, this example remains factory sealed from new so mint & unplayed. These were available exclusivly through the bands club as a subscriber incentive gift U2COM13).
DEEP PURPLE Made In Japan (2018 UK Limited Edition ‘Purple Vinyl Editions’ series issue of their 1972 7-track double LP now pressed on 180gram Translucent Purple Vinyl featuring a collection of live tracks recorded during their during their first tour of Japan with performances at the Festival Hall in Osaka on 15th & 16th August and the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on 17th August. The two discs remain in barely played condition housed in the gatefoldpicture sleeve TPSP351).
ARNETT COBB Party Time (Limited Edition 2017 US 7-track Stereo Gold Hybrid SA-CD [Super Audio CD – playable only on SACD players], expertly remastered by Kevin Gray from the original analogue masters, recorded at the Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack on May 14, 1959 with Ray Bryant, Wendell Marshall, Art Taylor & Ray Barretto, housed in a super jewel box album jewel case CPRJ7165SA).
THE BEATLES 1 (2015 UK & European remastered double LP issue of the classic 2000 27-track compilation album pressed on Audiophile quality 180gram Heavyweight Vinyl, featuring new stereo mixes by Giles Martin & Sam Okell of every #1 achieved by the band in the UK & US charts, including Love Me Do, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, Penny Lane, Hey Jude, Let It Be and many more. Complete with the picture inners, the large fold-out poster and four portrait postcards, both discs are UNPLAYED housed in the gatefold picture sleeve which remains sealed within its original shrinkwrap).
