Ain’t nothing but a jazz thing here at eil.com this week with a vast array of top jazz rare vinyl and CDs coming through the doors, here’s a few to whet your jazz whistle, see them all in our Jazz collectors store.
Ottilie Patterson – Spring Song: Very Rare Test Pressing for the 1971 UK 13-track LP, which appeared in Mojo’s Top 50 Weirdest Albums list, actually a very pleasant if unusual Funky Folk record! The labels are plain with just a small sidenumber annotation one side & complete with the retail picture sleeve. The catalogue number & A1/B1 matrices are machine stamped in the run-outs. The sleeve grades VG with some discolouring & edge scuffing [small letter annotation on the back], & all text is clearly legible including along the spine. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & grades VG+/EX- with some light paper hairlines not affecting play. Very tough to find a Polydor test pressing from this era & already an in demand record
Clark Terry – Clark Terry: 1955 US 8-track mono LP, also featuring Cecil Payne, Jimmy Cleveland, Horace Silver, Oscar Pettiford, Wendell Marshall & Art Blakey in a session produced by Quincy Jones, front pasted picture sleeve with tape reinforced seams. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear & the vinyl remains excellent with just a few light surface scuffs to show for its sixty years.
Milton Jackson – Wizard Of The Vibes: Rare 1953 8-track 10″ mono vinyl LP, also featuring Lou Donaldson, Sahib Shihab, John Lewis, Thelonious Monk, Percy Heath, Al McKibbon, Kenny Clarke & Art Blakey, picture sleeve. The sleeve shows a little edge scuffing but reamrkably little general storage wear & the vinyl rremains excellent with just a few light surface scuffs to show for its sixty years
