From Music Week
HMV has unveiled plans for Vinyl Week 2017, as it returns from June 9-18.
On Saturday 17, Ed Sheeran’s debut album + will be available alongside a range of exclusive coloured vinyl
In addition to +, further exclusives include Iggy Pop’s 1977 classic Lust For Life on silver vinyl and Suede’s self-titled debut, from 1993, on gold vinyl. The retailer will reveal more exclusive editions in the lead-up to the event; see below for a full breakdown of the records unveiled so far.
The exclusives are available in-store only and shoppers are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment, with a maximum of one unit per title per customer.
The BPI’s Q1 2017 figures showed vinyl sales up 35.8% year-on-year, which still represents growth, but is significantly below the 61.8% uptick during the same period in 2016 and the 69% lift in Q1 2015. Vinyl now accounts for 4.5% of total label revenues.
After those figures were released, industry retailers told Music Week they believed the boom would continue, despite the slowdown.
