Just in at eil.com are a number of superb, vintage British tour programmes, this little beauty is a ‘Who’ programme from 1966 where they shared a stage with the Spencer Davis Group, Jimmy Cliff and err.. Mike Sarne (he did ‘Come Outside’ which featured a very young Wendy Richards), also on the bill were the bizarrely named Fruit Eating Bears (looks like they were touring partners with the Merseys, but what about that ahead-of-the-curve psychedelic name eh?)
What makes these time capsules so cool is the little details that emerge as you look through, check the band bio’s – Roger gave away his record collection ‘cos “they didn’t mean anything anymore”, and it would appear the writer had the measure of Keith Moon, “he’s like a cross between a drum major and a practitioner of black magic’ whilst John Entwhistle was in the process of “getting some clothes made like the Confederate Army”…one other thing, with the average age of the Fruit Eating Bears being oooh about 17, how come they allowed out that late at night?
