These are the songs that never end: 10 of music’s most rewarding long cuts – what’s your favourite long song?

The Guardian has just published a piece about Father John Misty’s new song Leaving L.A. which clocks in at a whopping 13 minutes (hey, it’s like the ’70s all over again), here’s a link to the article but that got us thinking – what’s your favourite ‘long song’….to kick things off, I’m going for this little beauty which runs to 22 mins (22 mins very well spent btw!)…

Seminal 1974 opus from the loveable electronic boffins – the title track runs for 22 minutes and 30 seconds – like far out maaann, full info here

  1. Creedance Clearwater Revival’s version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Stomps along for a good 11 minutes, and I have the 12″ single 🙂

  2. For a long song, I’d have to go with Traffic’s “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys”. It came out (I think) in 1971 and holds up well. One of my favorite longs songs ever.

  3. Orbital’s Are we here? (Snivilisation album version – at over 15 mins, plus some other great long songs on that album). Fantastic piece of work!
