The band also set up companies shortly before the releases of In Rainbows and The King of Limbs, suggesting a new album is imminent
Ascertaining when a Radiohead album is likely to arrive has become the kind of task Hercule Poirot would be well suited to: scan the band members’ remarks, see what kind of footage is appearing on their website, scan all the paperwork, and then make the dramatic pronouncement.
Now the art-rock band – who pioneered the surprise release with In Rainbows in 2007, their first album after leaving EMI, which came out as a pay-what-you-want download – have left another clue.
Fans on the Radiohead forum At Ease have discovered that the group have set up a new company called Dawn Chorus LLP – whose five officers are the five members of the band – replicating the pattern of their last two albums. In July 2007, they set up Xurbia Xendless Ltd, which released In Rainbows the following October; in December 2010, they established Ticker Tape Ltd, which put out The King of Limbs in February of the following year.
Dawn Chorus was founded in October last year, suggesting their new album is likely to be imminent. It is registered at a central London address that appears to be little more than a postbox for companies, many of them music-related – Ed Sheeran Limited, Radiohead Trademark Limited (and several other companies associated with the group), Supergrass Limited, Gaz Coombes Limited and Hudmo Ltd are among the 213 active companies endole.co.uk lists as being registered at the address.
So far, though, the only new music Radiohead have released is one track that seems unlikely to feature on any new album – their rejected theme tune to the James Bond film Spectre, which they put out on Soundcloud over Christmas.
