The Beatles have released a new animated video for their 1966 classic Taxman. The video heralds the arrival of the expanded Special Edition release of the band’s classic Revolver album, which hits the shelves on October 28.
The animated video for Taxman was directed by Danny Sangra, who previously worked with the band on a series of animated birthday messages from Taxman writer George Harrison to John, Paul and Ringo (opens in new tab). Sangra has also worked on a collaboration between Metallica and Italian shoe brand Brioni.
The Beatles announced the expanded edition of Revolver in July, and released a demo version of Taxman. Earlier this month another demo arrived, the first recorded version of Tomorrow Never Knows.
The expanded edition of Revolver will be available in several configurations, including standalone vinyl, picture disc, CD, and expanded CD and CD/vinyl sets. The Special Edition tracks have been remixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell in stereo and Dolby Atmos.
The remixing process was aided by de-mixing technology developed by Get Back filmmaker Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd, who were able to separate the original four-track recordings into their constituent instrumental parts, allowing for a genuine multi-track remix.

THE BEATLES Revolver (Rare 1966 UK first issue 14-track stereo LP, in the original Garrod & Lofthouse front laminated sleeve with rounded flipbacks & 'Patents applied for' paper inner. The sleeve is graded VG with slight scuffing to the flipbacks, pinches to spine with the beginnings of laminate lift to top corner. The vinyl is strictly graded VG with spindle marks and some minor spindlewear to the label (small 'MIKE' handwritten name, black ink on black to Side 1), the playing surface shows a few hairlines/scuffs, mostly to Love You To and Tomorrow Never Knows, although after playback these are pretty much undetectable. The 'KT' tax code is also clearly visible on the label & this edition features the 'Dr. Robert' credit spelling on both label & sleeve. Not Mint, but still a rather desirable Stereo 1st issue copy!
