Gentle Giant have released a new music video for Just The Same. The video has been created by Derek Shulman’s son Noah and can be seen in full below. It features a brand new Steven Wilson remix and heralds the announcement that Free Hand, the parent album, will be reissued on June 25.
Free Hand was Gentle Giant’s seventh album, originally released in July 1975. It was the most commercially successful of the band’s career reaching the Top 40 album chart in Billboard Magazine. It stands as the culmination of the band’s maturity, following the successes of In A Glass House and The Power And The Glory.
By the time Free Hand was released Gentle Giant had become a major headliner in its own right. All the members were multi-instrumentalists. The band was never afraid of surprising an audience with a four-part recorder ensemble followed by a vibraphone solo, all the while rocking the audience and thoroughly enjoying themselves onstage at the same time.
Steven Wilson has again remixed Free Hand (as he did with the reissue of The Power And The Glory in 2014). Wilson’s remixed version of Free Hand will be released in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound and accompanied by custom animated visuals for each track on Blu-ray.
In addition, the original flat mix, original 1975 quad mix and an instrumental mix will all be included in a digipak CD. A double vinyl album will also be released with both the original flat mix and the Steven Wilson remixed version. The initial first pressing will include a limited edition transparent red version.

GENTLE GIANT Octopus (1972 UK first press Vertigo 'swirl' label 8-track LP, the formidable fourth album which marked the last involvement of eldest Shulman brother Phil & the first outing for third drummer John Weathers who stayed with the band thereafter, engineered by Martin Rushent [T-Rex, Yes, Buzzcocks, Stranglers], this is a cult classic among prog fans. Includes the brain-melting complexity of 'Knots', full of interlocking vocal harmonies wedded to bold symphonic rock sounds. The gatefold sleeve is a classic Roger Dean design & complete with the die-cut swirl inner. GENTLE GIANT In A Glass House (1973 UK first press 6-track LP on the black & silver WWA label [this album did not come out on the Vertigo swirl label in the UK], for many their finest record. Comes housed in a striking die-cut textured sleeve complete with PVC window, art print card insert. Because the textured sleeves were never laminated they were prone to storage wear with age, however this one has suffered only minor shelfwear with alight corner creasing and is overall in fantastic condition for its style and age. The vinyl too is nice & clean & shows only minor cosmetic evidence of light play, a great copy of this Prog rock gem! WWA002)

GENTLE GIANT Gentle Giant (In Demand 1970 UK first press 7-track stereo LP on the large 'swirl' label with 1Y-1/2Y-1 matrices, the incredible debut by the British Progressive Rock legends. Featuring the fabulous 'Alucard' & live regularFunny Ways, this is the album that seduced the Giant into finding the band [see the brilliant story in the liner notes!]. Comes housed in a matte gatefold picture sleeve with iconic artwork and die-cut 'swirl' inner. The sleeve has some minoredge/surface scuffing but has no seam splits or tears. The vinyl has just a few light general cosmetic surface scuffs through light play leaving it a VG/VG+ - overall very respectable copy of this amazing rare Vertigo collectable debut from the brilliant boys in the band!)
