It’s strange to think that out there in the world there are U2 branded disco balls, miniature toy cars emblazoned with Madonna’s logo, or even prophylactics from dutch metal band, Hammerfall. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the memorabilia that record companies have produced to help promote artists on their roster, and if you are looking for that interesting piece to add to your collection then you have come to the right place.
We’ve picked out a few of the rare and interesting highlights we have in stock, and you can find the full catalogue of what’s available over at eil.com
STIFF LITTLE FINGERS Inflammable Material (Super rare original 1979 UK 24.5″ x 18″ poster issued in very small quantities to promote their debut album. It’s a fantastic angled image of the album sleeve with all red background and ‘Available Now’ text with the Rough Trade Records address in the bottom left-hand section. The thin paper stock has survived remarkably well, the only evidence of wear is four tiny pin-prick holes in each corner. The poster has been folded but has been kept flat, not rolled – it’s in incredible condition for a forty-two year old item. As a vintage punk atrefact it doesn’t get much better – Inflammable Material was the debut album by Stiff Little Fingers, it was the first album released on Rough Trade Records [Cat. ROUGH1] and the 202 Kensington Park Road address was Rough Trade’s first home between 1976-1982. An amazing, near impossible find nearly half a century on and comes highly recommended).
GEORGE HARRISON Rock Legends – With Eric Clapton & His Band (1991 Japanese 36-page deluxe tour programme with a superb glossy cover, full Japanese text & some great colour pictures of George & Eric on & off stage. The cover has some scuff marks from storage & the inside pages appear near mint).
JANET JACKSON Janet Jackson (Rare 1999 Virgin UK promotional-only record store display cube. Made up of 8 separate folded panels featuring the sleeve artwork plus a close up of Janet with opened jeans etc. This fabulous display item comes complete with the original base support plus an A4 sheet of instructions on how to assemble it! In overall excellent condition with just a few nicks and marks due to storage over the last 20 years. A superb addition to your collection which can beeither assembled, or the separate panels used for display).
