Graham Bond Organisation box set out in June

From Loudersond.

The Graham Bond Organisation are to put out a four disc box set in June. The collection boasts “the biggest and most comprehensive collection of work” released by the band. Wade In The Water (Classics, Origins & Oddities) will be released through Repertoire Records on June 4.

Wade In The Water (Classics, Origins & Oddities) features 96-tracks, including many from the band’s classic albums – with many remixed by ex-Cream lyricist Pete Brown and Dick Heckstall-Smith (Colosseum) from the original 4-track masters.

It also includes several live performances by the GBO including Ginger Baker’s first vocal, plus an amazingly wild gig by the band’s original line-up; originally unavailable on CD until 2012. Also featured rare demo sessions together with the GBO backing other artists, many unreleased at the time plus others unavailable since the 60s.

The set comes packed into double jewel cases, with two 20-page booklets; one featuring archive memorabilia, rare photos and an introduction by producer Pete Brown, the other track-by-track annotation.

THE GRAHAM BOND ORGANISATION The Sound Of 65 (1965 UK first press 14-track mono LP on the blue & black Columbia label, the astounding debut from Bond, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker & Dick Heckstall-Smith, offering an innovative fusion of R&B, blues, jazz & showcasing the outstanding musicianship of the quartet, front laminated flipback picture sleeve. The cover [VG+] has some ring wear creasing with the odd spot of tiny paper loss to a corner or two. The back panel remains sharp with nowriting & just minor age wear. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & grades VG. There are some spindle marks by the centre hole & a degree of paper scuffing both sides, with several paper hairline marks. Playback remains superb on a mono setting due to the quality of British vinyl from this period, although some light background surface is apparent in the quieter sections. A very serviceable example & the sound of '65! 33SX1711)

GRAHAM BOND ORGANIZATION There's A Bond Between Us (1965 UK 12-track mono vinyl LP, front laminated flipback picture sleeve. The sleeve on this copy shows some mild shelfwear with a degree of discolouration to the unlaminated back, but remainsintact & untorn. The vinyl too shows some noticable surface scuffs, spindlemarks around the centre hole & has obviously been played, but still sounds far better than it looks, thanks to the high quality sixties pressing. Upon play testing, wefound it to play with just a little surface noise evident in quiet passages and between tracks. A very acceptable copy of this great album at an extremely advantageous price 33SX1750)
