Musicians traditionally tend to write music for themselves. They use the fire burning inside them to spur creativity and write something that other can connect with, which for most is the only reward they need. Of course, it is always nice when the artist is recognised for their achievements from the industry they are part of.
This mostly comes in the form of being presented an award from the governing bodies such as the BPI, RIAA, ARIA, and so on. Sometimes, these awards make their way into the hands of collectors and the public, and we see no shortage of them here. From Platinum discs celebrating sales over the one million mark, to in house presentation CD awards, they make great pieces to display, and the perfect addition to any collection of records or memorabilia.

ROBERT PLANT & THE STRANGE SENSATION Mighty Rearranger (Rare official 2005 UK BPI Certified GOLD LP award presented to Pinnacle to recognise sales in the UK of more than 100,000 copies of the Sanctuary Records album. This superb award features a gold 12″ disc with picture label plus a ‘Gold Sales Award’ plaque centred below, above a copy of the CD sleeve artwork and a gold ‘BPI Certified Sales Award’ dedication plaque, with a mini Union Jack flag in the top left corner. Measures approximately 23″ x 17½”, and is framed and glazed – a truly stunning item!).
MEGADETH Risk (Official Portuguese AFP Certified Silver Award issued to commemorate album sales in excess of 10,000 copies, presented to the bands former Tour Manager. This nicely framed and glazed award measures14″ x 18″ in size, featuring a copy of the Compact Disc at the top and album artwork below, mounted on the silver backing which is the custom printed dedication plaque with ‘Prata’ at the top and the dedication at the bottom with all text in Portuguese, in a black wooden frame – an unusually award and the first we have ever had from this part of Europe!)
CINDERELLA Heartbreak Station (Rare Official Japanese Nippon Phonogram Co. Ltd. in-house ‘Gold Disk’ Award issued in recognition of the album reaching Gold Status, presented to the bands former Tour Manager. This nicely framed and glazed award measure 9″ x 11″ in size, featuring a copy of the Compact Disc at the top with a Japanese flag miniature in the middle, all mounted on the authentic, custom engraved gold mount with the dedication at the bottom and in a thick heavy golden metal frame. Although not big in size, the Japanese awards are now very sought after as very hard to find)
