Our jazz rarities this week include a fifties pressing of Something Else!!!! by Ornette Coleman, the classic Stan Tracey album, Seven Ages of Man, and a reissue of one of the all time greats, Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.

ORNETTE COLEMAN Something Else!!!! (1959 US issue of the 1958 mono 9-track vinyl LP on the yellow Contemporary label with C3551 catalogue number, recorded February 10 and 22, 1958 at Contemporary’s studio in Los Angeles with Don Cherry, WalterNorris, Don Payne & Billy Higgins, scarce pasted picture sleeve with the M3551 catalogue number to the front & reverse. The sleeve shows light ringwear & discolouration; there is a little corner wear with no seam splits. The vinyl shows justa handful of light cosmetic marks leaving the vinyl Excellent – a really nice copy! M3551).

STAN TRACEY The 7 Ages Of Man (Wonderful 1970 UK 8-track stereo LP on a one EMI ‘box’ Columbia label, in the collectable Lansdowne Series. Released in between the equally revered Greek Variations [Neil Ardley et al] and Laurie Johnson’s Synthesis, Seven Ages Of Man fits perfectly among these series of high concept pieces in British jazz. Ronnie Ross, Tony Coe, Alan Skidmore and Frank Ricotti all star, front laminated flipback picture sleeve with Columbia catalogue inner. The sleeveis in excellent condition withjust a little light shelfwear to show for its age, whilst the labels are clean with just an odd sheen to the Side 1 label [possibly a manufacturing issue] and the vinyl is in Near Mint condition SCX6413).

Miles Davis Kind Of Blue - 180gm (45rpm) Vinyl Box Set US MDAVXKI730195

MILES DAVIS Kind Of Blue (Limited Edition 2015 US Mobile Fidelity 2-LP audiophile issue of the classic 1959 5-track stereo album, remastered using the Gain2 Ultra Analog System & pressed exclusively on 180gram Vinyl at 45rpm for maximumsound clarity. Also stars John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans or Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers & Jimmy Cobb. Comes housed in a deluxe 12″ picture box, individually numbered by hand on the back, complete with eight-page booklet. The packaging & the vinyl appears Near Mint MFSL2-45011).
