Musicians traditionally tend to write music for themselves. They use the fire burning inside them to spur creativity and write something that other can connect with, which for most is the only reward they need. Of course, it is always nice when the artist is recognised for their achievements from the industry they are part of.
This mostly comes in the form of being presented an award from the governing bodies such as the BPI, RIAA, ARIA, and so on. Sometimes, these awards make their way into the hands of collectors and the public, and we see no shortage of them here. Measuring approximately 16″ x 16″ this framed, matted & glazed award is presented to the former MD of MCA Records and formed part of his impressive archive – it has impeccable provenance. Never previously been offered for sale and still wrapped in its original PVC bag along with the outer packaging carton).
COLDPLAY Parachutes (Rare official 2000 UK Parlophone in-house Platinum award for UK sales in excess of 300,000 copies of the album. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 17″ x 15½” in size, and features a centrally mounted platinum disc overlaid with the Compact Disc of the album, a reproduction of the sleeve artwork and authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque, with miniature ‘Union Jack’ flag in the top left corner.
