A long long time ago, Uncle Frank & The Mothers released one of only two Verve singles in Japan. This one, with sleeve dated ‘TO 6711’ [Nov 67 Tokyo] was the first & has since become one of the rarest Frank Zappa official releases in the world.
Taken from the then-recently released ‘Freak Out’ album, this wide centred 7″ is backed by Who Are The Brain Police? A jolly civil rights themed package all round. What makes this extra special is that the title track is the 2:33 single edit, rather than the 5:53 album version. Sometimes these are found as fairly tatty copies but even then you still have to pay a small fortune for them.
This rare example is a stock copy & only the second our Japanese buyer has ever found. The thin silk laminated flipback picture sleeve is untorn, free of stickers or writing. The pink lettering really stands out unblemished & the unique design even sports a ‘psychedelic’ genre header in red. We would grade the sleeve a very pleasing VG+ with just some minor foxing on the back not spoiling the print & otherwise just the very lightest thumb crease from handling.
The vinyl has a deep sheen both sides & grades VG+/EX- with merely a few faint paper hairlines not affecting play. A lovely copy of one of the rarest FZ releases in the world! Find out more about this record in our store.

THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION Absolutely Free (1967 UK 13-track stereo LP, housed in a unique front laminated flipback sleeve with the album art at ninety degrees to the gatefold version & with the tracklisting & Mike Raven poem on the back. The sleeve [VG+] reveals some light ageing with some faint discolouration to the reverse whilst the vinyl is clean & grades VG/VG+ with several light paper hairline scuffs not affecting play. FRANK ZAPPA 200 Motels (Rare 1971 UK 34-track double LP soundtrack to Zappa's surreal movie. This hard to find first press is complete with the rather beautiful and even harder to find fold-out colour poster plus 16-page illustrated booklet packed with stills from the film. The scarce poster shows no signs of being displayed. The gatefold stickered sleeve shows obvious edge scuffing (especially to spine) and the vinyl reveals light signs of play only - very nice indeed! FRANK ZAPPA The Man From Utopia (1986 UK digitally remastered issue of the 1983 10-track LP, complete with lyric inner, picture sleeve. The sleeve art makes reference to an infamous outdoor gig in Italy [which shall remain unnamed] where the band was first beseiged by Mosquitos, who had unfortunately chosen that very day to breed, & which then ended in a riot in the crowd with tear gas being liberally sprayed about. The sleeve [still in it's open shop shrink] shows only a single tear on the pocket opening & the vinyl remains in excellent condition EMC3500)
