For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
ANATHEMA Eternity (Rare 1996 UK 12-track vinyl LP, the third album by the British rock band, the first shift in groups style and sound from their doom metal roots to gothic metal, and the last with drummer John Douglas before his return to the band in 1998, features a version of Roy Harper’s song Hope; glossy picture sleeve with lyric printed inner. The sleeve displays some minor wear mostly to the edges, with no splits or rips, and the vinyl displays only light signs of play, an excellent example and the first we have ever seen).
SIMPLE MINDS Good News From The Next World (1995 UK 9-track vinyl LP featuring the 13th studio album from Glasgow’s finest, including the singles ‘She’s A River’ and ‘Hypnotized’, issued in the gatefold picture sleeve with lyric inner. The sleeve shows a little wear to the opening edge but the vinyl remains in near ‘as new’ condition! V2760).
FRANK ZAPPA Strictly Commercial (Limited edition 1995 UK 21-track double LP compilation, including the Dancin’ Fool 12″ Dance Mix [not available on CD], individually numbered gatefold picture sleeve with illustrated biography insert. The sleeve shows minimal wear & the vinyl looks barely played – a superb condition copy & still the best Zappa comp out there! RALP40500).
