Musicians traditionally tend to write music for themselves. They use the fire burning inside them to spur creativity and write something that other can connect with, which for most is the only reward they need. Of course, it is always nice when the artist is recognised for their achievements from the industry they are part of.
This mostly comes in the form of being presented an award from the governing bodies such as the BPI, RIAA, ARIA, and so on. Sometimes, these awards make their way into the hands of collectors and the public, and we see no shortage of them here. DIDO Life For Rent (Rare official 2004 UK B.P.I. Certified Eight Time Platinum award issued to commemorate album sales in excess of 2.4 Million copies, and presented to Virgin Megastores. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 20″x 16″ in size, and features eight 3″ Disc’s mounted next to a barefoot image of Dido sat on a leather chair in a sleeveless summery dress, mini ‘8 X Platinum’ & Union Flag below and with the album artwork in the bottom left corner, with the authentic custom engraved dedication plaque in the bottom left corner, all in a black metal frame).
ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album (Official US RIAA Certified Multi-Platinum Award issued to commemorate American album sales in excess of 8,000,000 copies. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 17″ x 21″ in size, and features eight overlapping copies of the Compact Disc at the top with a black background mount with a grey die-cut surround, in the bottom left corner is the album artwork miniature with the authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque with ‘R’ style RIAA hologram to the right; with a black plastic coated wooden frame. This is the biggest selling soundtrack album of all time, now reaching the Diamond status with over Seventeen copies sold, with most of the songs performed by Whitney Houston (who also starred in the movie) including the classic I Will Always Love You).
MARIAH CAREY Mariah Carey (Official US RIAA Certified Multi-Platinum Award issued to commemorate American album sales in excess of 4,000,000 copies. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 21″ x 15″ in size, and features a full length image of Mariah standing and holding a micophone as featured on the artwork to her single, Vision Of Love, with four overlapping Compact Discs on the right and bellow is the authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque with ‘R’ style RIAA hologram, all mounted on a dark brown background and in a black plastic coated wooden frame).
