Musicians traditionally tend to write music for themselves. They use the fire burning inside them to spur creativity and write something that other can connect with, which for most is the only reward they need. Of course, it is always nice when the artist is recognised for their achievements from the industry they are part of.
This mostly comes in the form of being presented an award from the governing bodies such as the BPI, RIAA, ARIA, and so on. Sometimes, these awards make their way into the hands of collectors and the public, and we see no shortage of them here. Fleetwood Mac – Rumours: Rare official US RIAA Certified Platinum Award issued to commemorate American CD & Cassette album sales in excess of 1,000,000 copies. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 13″ x 17″ in size, and features the album artwork overlapping a Compact Disc at the top, ‘Platinum Sales Award’ cassette shell in the middle and the authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque with ‘R’ style RIAA hologram at the bottom. Kenny Rogers – 21 Number Ones: Rare Official RIAA certified GOLD award presented to commemorate sales of more than 500,000 copies of the Capitol Nashville compilation album on compact disc. Featuring a gold LP with title/tracklisted disc artwork centre label above a mounted picture sleeve featuring the original cover art, with authentic, custom engraved RIAA hologram and dedication plaque with a luxurious gold effect background. Measuring approximately 18″ x 26″ framed and glazed in awonderful 1½” deep black bevelled frame with only one or two tiny marks evident from storage this otherwise superb award is also presented with a striking custom white title and pattern print effect on the plexiglass – fabulous Kenny Rogers collectable!!
