John Sykes to release first solo album in 19 years

From Planet Rock.

Former Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Blue Murder and Tygers of Pan Tang star John Sykes will release his first solo album in 19 years in the coming months.

The long-gestating record originally had the working title of ‘Sy-Ops’, however it appears this name has now been scrapped.

According to Sykes’ new label Golden Robot Records, the follow-up to 2000’s ‘Nuclear Cowboy’ is “yet to be titled” and it will be coming out on their imprint in 2019.

Hyping the record, Golden Robot Records wrote on their official website: “This album is set to blow the world apart and keep all his old and new fans extremely happy – it will be well worth the wait.

“So, get ready and strap yourself in for the 2019 album of the year. John is back and in full force – stay tuned!”

59-year-old Sykes completed work on the album five years ago but originally delayed it due to the death of his manager. He explained in 2017: “With him I lost someone I could really trust. So, I put the disc on ice.”

Commenting on the sound of the record two years ago, Sykes said: “People who like what I did on the 1987 (self-titled album) from Whitesnake and the two studio records from Blue Murder will be pleased by the new material.”
