Latest rare and collectable ’90s vinyl in stock, including Bush, Red House Painters, The Birthday Party and more

For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.

While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.

We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.

Bush – Sixteen Stone: Rare 1996 German 12-track vinyl LP, picture sleeve with promotional sticker on the back plus picture/lyric inner. The sleeve has some edgewear and the vinyl has just a couple of light surface scuffs – an excellent copy of this Bush rarity.

Red House Painters – Red House Painters: Very rare 1993 UK 14-track double vinyl LP, single pocket picture sleeve with picture inners. This self-titled release is also known as ‘Rollercoaster’ due to the sleeve image, it’s another batch of classic introspective songs subsequently dubbed as ‘slowcore’ by the critics. The sleeve and inners show very little sign of wear, with just a little creasing to the opening lip and the vinyl has just a few light hairlines / scuffs, which have little or no impact on sound quality – a great copy of an elusive gem!

The Birthday Party – Hits: 1992 UK 4AD label 20-track double vinyl LP featuring a collection of classics from the Australian post-punk band fronted by Nick Cave [pre-The Bad Seeds] including Happy Birthday, The Friend Catcher, Mr. Clarinet, NickThe Stripper, Release The Bats and more, housed together in a textured single-pocket picture sleeve with individual picture inners. The sleeve shows just a little foxing, whilst the vinyl is Near Mint
