Latest rock rarities and collectables, including Frank Zappa, Cressida, Elvis Presley and more

Trying to explain what exactly constitutes rock music could take a life time. It is one of the broadest genres, and can be given almost any prefix. Prog-rock, alt-rock, jazz-rock, punk rock, psych rock…. the list is endless. It has been the subject much discussion, and rock has even been declared dead on numerous occasions.

Judging by the amount of rare and collectable vinyl we see from almost every corner of the rock music lexicon, the genre is very much alive and well. Below are a few of the latest arrivals we have in stock, ready to find a place in your collection. You can search for your favourite artists in our store to see our full range.

The Mothers of Invention – Trouble Comin’ Every Day: A long long time ago, Uncle Frank & The Mothers released one of only two Verve singles in Japan. This one, with sleeve dated ‘TO 6711’ [Nov 67 Tokyo] was the first & has since become one of the rarest Frank Zappa official releases in the world. Taken from the then-recently released ‘Freak Out’ album, this wide centred 7″ is backed by Who Are The Brain Police? A jolly civil rights themed package all round. What makes this extra special is that the title track is the 2:33 single edit, rather than the 5:53 album version. Sometimes these are found as fairly tatty copies but even then you still have to pay a small fortune for them. This rare example is a stock copy & only the second our Japanese buyer has ever found. The thin silk laminated flipback picture sleeve is untorn, free of stickers or writing. The pink lettering really stands out unblemished & the unique design even sports a ‘psychedelic’ genre header in red. We would grade the sleeve a very pleasing VG+ with just some minor foxing on the back not spoiling the print & otherwise just the very lightest thumb crease from handling. The vinyl has a deep sheen both sides & grades VG+/EX- with merely a few faint paper hairlines not affecting play. A lovely copy of one of the rarest FZ releases in the world! £1150

Cressida – Asylum: Monster Rare 1971 UK first press 8-track vinyl LP, on a large ‘swirl’ Vertigo label. This cult Art Rock classic offers a blend of McCartney-esque vocals & Symphonic Progressive Rock filled with adventurous instrumental sections, & comes housed in a stunning Keef designed gatefold sleeve complete with the poly-lined swirl inner £795

Elvis Presley – Rock ‘n’ Roll No. 2: Incredibly rare 1957 UK first issue 12-track mono vinyl LP on the maroon & gold HMV ‘Nipper’ label, fully laminated scalloped flipback picture sleeve. The second installment of the birth of Rock N Roll! To find a serviceable copy of this record in this day & age is akin to finding gold dust £595
