Robert Smith of The Cure to curate Meltdown Festival

Robert Smith has been announced as the curator for this year’s Meltdown festival.

the 10 night extravaganza will take place at London’s Southbank Centre, with Smith joining a long line of previous curators such as Nick Cave, David Bowie, David Byrne, MIA, Jarvis Cocker, and more. The full details of the event will be released in March.

“I am honoured and excited to be curating the 25th Meltdown Festival”, Smith said in a statement. “More than 30 of my all time favourite artists – some of the most exciting, inspirational, intense and influential performers of the last 40 years – will make sure this 10-night extravaganza at London’s Southbank Centre is the must-see event of the summer!”

The news comes after The Cure announced they will be performing their only UK show when they headline Hyde Park as part of the British Summertime concerts.
