JAZZ Vinyl & CDs at eil.com this week includes Miles Davis, Tubby Hayes, Brotherhood of Breath, and more

Ain’t nothing but a jazz thing here at eil.com this week with a vast array of top jazz rare vinyl and CDs coming through the doors, here’s a few to whet your jazz whistle, see them all in our Jazz collectors store.

Miles Davis – The Miles Davis Story: Rare 1972 Japanese-only 26-track mono triple compilation LP box set, with each disc in its own picture sleeve with Japanese sleeve notes on the back, complete with high quality twenty four page booklet detailing the sessions & sidemen [also in Japanese], gold slipcase inner with gold embossed slipcase picture box & wrap-around obi-strip. The packaging and sleeves show only the lightest of wear and the vinyl is immaculate.

Tubby Hayes Quartet – Mexican Green: Rare 1968 first UK issue 7-track LP on the steel blue & silver Fontana label, also starring pianist Mike Pyne, bassist Ron Mathewson & drummer Tony Levin, regarded as one of Tubbs’ finest albums, front laminated flipback picture sleeve with notes by Tubby himself on the reverse. This copy comes with an additional 12″ square slick of the back cover which is included as an insert, an odd occurence at the printers & fully original. The cover grades VG, with smoking to the rear & some corner creasing, with all text clearly legible. There are a couple of small thumbnail tears at the opening which are unobtrusive. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & grades VG/VG- with some noticeable paper scuffs & light hairlines which have very little effect on play. This copy originates from the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross. What a record!

Brotherhood of Breath – Very Urgent: Monster Afro Jazz 1968 UK two-part stereo LP produced by Joe Boyd, also starring Dudu Pukwana & Ronnie Beer [alto sax], Mongezi Feza [pocket trumpet], Johnny Dyani [bass] & Louis Moholo [drums], in a debutsession for this group, with blasting horn charts & freeform exuberance. This copy originates from the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross. The front laminated picture sleeve [VG+] has some corner creasing & ring wear, with no writing or tears & all text legible. The vinyl appears Near Mint. Very rare… & very urgent!
