Knowing Me Knowing You: An ABBA exhibition called Super Troupers is coming to London later this year

From the Official Chart Company

“We are so excited that the exhibition is just a few short steps away from Waterloo.”

Get your platform boots at the ready! A new ABBA exhibition is coming to London later this year.

Taking place at the Southbank Centre from December 14, 2017 to April 29, 2018, Super Troupers will walk fans through various eras of ABBA’s career, recreating iconic places in the Swedish band’s very famous history.

Each exhibit space will feature actual artefacts and momentos used by ABBA’s Benny, Bjorn, Agnetha and Frida, many of which are borrowed from the ABBA museum in Stockholm. The night that they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 will be recreated, as will their Brighton Grand hotel suite that they stayed in.

A 70s disco and ABBA’s recording studio will act as other areas in the exhibition to tell the band’s story, while unseen sketches, iconic costumes and instruments will bring fans closer to ABBA than ever before.

“Since our songs, which were written in the 70s, are still being played today it’s particularly interesting that the Southbank Centre exhibition is placing them in the temporal context in which they were created,” explained Björn Ulvaeus.

“We recorded Mamma Mia in 1975. What happened that year in the UK and in the world? One thing is for certain – it seems unbelievably long ago!”

This news follows an announcement made last year that a virtual reality “digital experience” featuring the band will debut this year. Whether or not the two will tie-in together is currently unknown.

Later this summer, brand new vinyl reissues of solo ABBA albums will be released, all with brand new coloured discs for a limited period.
